G.Rev's next shmup + Radirgy Noa Massive

Hopefully this will be a worldwide release because it looks fucking crazy! Looks similar to Radiant Silvergun. I'm digging the soundtrack too!

Also, Radirgy Noa Massive should be out now. Play Asia shipped my copy to me a couple of days ago and I'm waiting for the delivery. Has multiple new game modes including a remix of the original Radirgy. Should be awesome for people who like Milestone.

Mushihimesama Futari + Other stuff

By request.

Mushihimesama Futari is a vertical STG developed by CAVE. IT had an original release in arcades, then a 1.5 version and Black Label were released. There was also a 360 port with Black Label available as DLC. CAVE released it region free to test international waters. It seemed as though international sales exceeded expectations, however it is a shame not so many people have played it as it is a real gem. There is a "Platinum" release around the corner, I haven't seen a confirmation of its status in regards to being region free yet, but I will be sure to let people know. I love the game so strongly, I may even buy a few copies to give away (under the assumption it is region free).

Basically, it is a vertical shoot 'em up. It has 3 difficulties, Original, Maniac and Ultra. Original and Ultra have somewhat similar scoring systems (switching between shot and laser depending on your "counter" at various intervals), Maniac being somewhat more complex. For me, I really love the scoring system. It is straight forward, but at the same time it adds a real challenge to the game and adds substantial depth.

There is always quite a lot going on. It may be danmaku or giant boulders but there is always something to keep your eye on. From stage 3 onwards and stage 5 in particular, it becomes so fast paced and hectic you will probably surprise yourself at how you weave through the various patterns. It is a hugely rewarding and challenging game, and the Black Label DLC adds a huge amount to it. It is one of my favorite STGs. I play it damn near every day and recommend it highly.

I will add a video from the game and also the CAVE MushiFutari (Black Label)/Deathsmiles Superplay. Shmup videos always make it look easy ;_;. Most of the time anyways..

In other news, another DoDonPachi DFK PV has been released from CAVE. Coming out Nov. 25 for those of us with J360s.

Reco - Mushihimesama Futari

Well,

I posted yesterday I was waiting for a package, and it arrived this morning! I am pretty happy about it.

The figure is Reco from Mushihimesama Futari (CAVE). One of my favorite games. I took some pictures but arrr, my camera is still not working so... I had to use a camera phone. B-but its better than nothing right.. ;_; When I figure out this infernal camera I will be sure to take much higher quality pictures.

I pretty much had to take the pictures on a bookshelf in my hallway too.. I don't have a display case or anything handy at this point. But in the future, I will. It was all a bit of a rush I'm afraid.

Another long period between posting + VN

More anxiety and more days filled with not a lot.

I have really decided that a horrible thing is waiting for figs to get delivered. Waiting every day for a knock on the door from the postman that never comes. But it is great when he finally arrives! That being said, if he doesn't have a delivery by Friday.. ;_;

On the other hand, I've started digging in to this TESOL course quite a bit. It is really interesting to learn more about language. English is really quite an odd language it seems. I'm hoping to get through each part of the course in 1-2 weeks each, so I am finished by the end of the year and spend the first few months of next year trying to get some funds together. I'm half-way through the 'core' TESOL course and  have about 5 speciality courses to go (that I still haven't decided on). Of course, learning how to teach kids to sing "the wheels on the bus go round and round" paralyses me with fear, but as far as social anxiety goes I am fine once I am in the thick of it. Haha, I guess we'll see.

Other stuff, the new Castlevania game isn't really Castlevania.

This weeks 'game' is Osananajimi wa Daitouryou.

It seems totally crazy and out there.

It has been a while since I made a post, partly because the weekend was quite busy with a lot of family things and I have felt reasonably shit for a few days. But, I'll get back to it now with hopefully some good stuff. When I get my camera working I should have a couple of fig reviews to post up too.

For now, I'll just say I've been rereading Murakami (Kafka on the Shore) specifically, and I really think it is a masterpiece. It is like reading a dream. Hopefully he wins the Nobel (last I saw he had a 1/7 chance I think?), but anyway. It is a fantastic book and I think most of you would really like it.

A pretty boring post for now, but I should be posting something more interesting in a couple of hours I hope.

This weeks eroge

I am quite late to the party on this one, but I started playing a few days ago.

A delightful tale of a seemingly ordinary young man who drinks an experimental potion by mistake, thinking it is a type of medicine for dizzy spells he was having, only to wake up the next morning as a female.

I won't go into any more details at this point, I don't want to spoil anything for people who may not have played it. But so far, I'm finding it kinda fun. Has anyone else played it? If so, what did you think?

Musics

There has been some great posts about music recently (Natsume's post was fantastic for example!). I thought I would post some music I have enjoyed for quite some time. I figure though, that it may be somewhat inaccessible. It is kind of strange I guess, and not for everyone. It also takes a certain mood, for me at least.

First up is a song that is collaboration between the band Boris and noise guru Merzbow. It is actually a cover of an older song named Flower Sun Rain by Pyg.

It is a slow and long track, towards the end it becomes really heavy (to my ears at least).

Wata from Boris also released a split EP with one of my favorite "folk" musicians from Japan, Ai Aso. Her music is often quite melancholy, but soothing also. Folks who like stuff like The Velvet Underground would probably appreciate it. I was looking for a song in particular to post, but I couldn't find it so..

Then there is Kazuki Tomokawa. I first heard his music when I was, gee, probably 15. And I have been listening to his releases ever since. It is really filled with emotion. Really devastating music, especially when one learns of what has inspired him at times.

And another track from the "screaming philosopher", Tomokawa. This is an interesting one because it is a video from him performing in the movie IZO. IZO was directed by Takashi Miike, of Audition and Ichi the Killer fame. Two of my favorite movies (Audition in particular).

Sorry for so many videos at once! Arrrrrg, it is hard not to get carried away!

A little about myself.

It is hard to know where to begin, and writing this type of thing is difficult.

I'm 23 and live in Australia. Left school at 14 for obvious reasons, worked for a month when I was 15 and haven't really worked since. I moved overseas for close to a year when I was 17, but that didn't really work out so I moved back home. The majority of those years were living like a hermit. I've had a fair share of weird experiences and met a fair few interesting folks over the years too.

At the moment I'm working through a TESOL course and plan on living abroad again next year. I've pretty much dropped out of every other course I've tried to do, but this course is by correspondence and I am fairly motivated really.

My main interests and hobbies include shmups, gaming in general, visual novels, reading and all the other obvious stuff. I suppose I'll post the interesting stuff (if there is any) that comes up in my day to day life!
So, what is everyone thinking about Atlus' new project, 'Catherine'?

I'm thinking it is looking really intriguing, but to be honest I don't know a great deal about it.
I am hoping there will be some type of localization!

DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu

So, DDP DFK is coming out 25 of November. Everything is looking great so far. Arrange A looks really similar to DOJ and Arrange B looks intense as shit.

I'm counting down the days. Can hardly wait.
